This position is responsible for providing strategic counsel to multiple stakeholders and leading strategic public relations efforts in coordination with the marketing team across Deloitte’s Life Sciences & Health Care (LSHC) business.

The Public Relations Senior Manager delivers innovative external communications strategies that build and protect the firm’s brand and reputation, position the firm as a thought leader, attract top talent, ensure consistent messaging, and position the business to win work.

What you’ll do:  

As the LSHC public relations lead in Deloitte Services LP, you will contribute to the growth and development of our organization in a variety of ways:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute a strategic PR plan designed to drive external eminence
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and provide strategic counsel to senior leadership and key stakeholders across the practice
  • Enhance and cultivate relationships with the media – be a resource for reporters covering health care, health plans, and life sciences
  • Proactively pitch stories positioning Deloitte, senior leadership, and other industry leaders as experts on specific topics. 
  • Prepare spokespeople and leaders for media interviews and speaking engagements by providing refresher media training as appropriate and facilitating/coordinating media training for spokespeople when required
  • Manage external public relations agencies, including tracking budgets, reporting, and delivery of support to meet business goals
  • Collaborate closely with the LSHC marketing team and other Deloitte industry/business PR leads to ensure messaging, reporter outreach, and signature-issue positioning are aligned
  • Measure and communicate effectiveness of external communications/PR programs and tactics
  • Develop and manage more junior members of the team to ensure successful results and to help them build skills

Qualifications/ Skills Required:

  • Communications professional with a minimum of 12+ years relevant experience 
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, English, public relations, or journalism
  • Deep understanding of the life sciences and health care landscape, with a strong background in media relations best practices, reporter engagement, connection, and use of social media to amplify media coverage
  • Proven success in developing and executing external communications strategies and plans for a large business, preferably in professional services
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and executing executive positioning programs, working with senior leaders, and collaborating across a multi-disciplinary marketing team in a matrixed organization
  • Executive presence, strong communications skills, able to confidently provide strategic counsel, ask good questions, challenge the status quo, suggest alternatives, and articulate pros and cons
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and fluid priorities, gain consensus through influence, change course when warranted, and manage multiple and complex priorities proactively, efficiently and effectively
  • Experience in successfully leading and developing team members, providing effective guidance and coaching, maintaining close understanding of all team activities, ensuring high quality for all activities/deliverables, and implementing course corrections when needed
  • Ability to successfully engage and manage an external PR agency
  • Experience in measuring the effectiveness of communications strategies, tactics and programs
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook and Word; knowledgeable in all aspects of Microsoft Office and ancillary program.
