Position Summary

Deloitte Consulting LLP seeks a Engineer 2, Core Business Operations, Systems Engineering in Austin, Texas and various unanticipated Deloitte office locations and client sites nationally.

Work You’ll Do

Provide software development and implementation services to help companies unlock the value of technology investments, ranging from requirements to architecture, design to development, and testing to deployment, as discrete services or comprehensive solutions. Evaluate technology needs, develop customized applications and draft technical and functional design documentation; identify and mitigate risks in process and technology for engagements. Perform assessments of existing information systems and identify gaps between business requirements and current system capabilities; estimate time and resources needed for the development work. Design sub-components of larger application systems; integrate software applications with each other and continuously optimize the system structure to improve stability and performance. Define systems strategy, develop system requirements, design, prototype, and test custom technology solutions, and support system implementation. Develop dashboard wireframes and design requirements based on discussion with an understanding of technical and visual design considerations. Create technical and functional specifications, including screen layouts, navigation flows, logic diagrams, data models, process models, and pseudo code, to be used for application development. Work with a team of developers to both produce new components and resolve defects through a standard defect resolution process. Assist with quantitative and qualitative research to understand user behaviors, needs, and motivations. Research user reported issues with software systems, identify root causes and resolutions, implement fixes, and liaise between business functions, end users, and technical delivery teams. Assist in providing expert recommendations and research brand new technology system for the project to adjust to changing market demands. Apply research and development, prototyping, and vendor evaluations. Develop epics and user stories by decomposing product modules into management fragments. Create and present product persona templates to business users and stakeholders in order to establish the users’ needs, experience, behaviors, and goals.

Requirements 

Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent) in Business Administration, any STEM field, or a related field and one (1) year of related work experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Must have one (1) year of related work experience involving each of the following:

  • Providing software development and implementation services to help companies unlock the value of technology investments, ranging from requirements to architecture, design to development, and testing to deployment, as discrete services or comprehensive solutions, utilizing Agile Software Development Methodology, with frameworks including Scrum and Kanban;
  • Architecting, developing and maintaining desktop, web and cloud-based applications using JAVA, JAVA Spring framework, Spring MVC and Amazon Web Services to meet functional needs for software applications;
  • Developing, testing, debugging and maintaining webservices using REST technology in JAVA;
  • Writing quality code, testing, debugging and maintaining software products that perform migration of legacy applications that use Cobol/Natural/CA-Gen into modern technologies of JAVA and C#;
  • Using Junit, Mockito, NodeUnit, and TDD methodology to support, perform, and oversee the following types of testing to ensure successful design and implementation of project solutions: Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing and Smoke Testing;
  • Performing DevOps tasks including provisioning Cloud Infrastructure, deploying applications on Cloud Infrastructure using Amazon Web Services; configuring and maintaining build infrastructure to ensure successful deployments and delivery of artifacts to stakeholders and supporting project teams; building tools including Jenkins, Hudson, and Maven;
  • Evaluating technology needs, developing customized applications, and drafting technical and functional design documentation utilizing MS Vision, UML Diagrams, Jira and Confluence;
  • Developing domain classes and database access methods using JDBC technologies when interfacing with JAVA, directly using native MSSQL, DB2 and Oracle;
  • Writing Shell scripts for Linux based system and bath scripts for Windows to automate build, test and deployment for successful artifact delivery to stakeholders;
  • Providing technical support by directly interfacing with clients and Project Stakeholders on wide variety of products and tools developed on top of JAVA and Cloud environments;
  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance on product to new employees; contributing to technical reviews, retrospectives, daily scrum meetings and client meetings to gather functional and technical requirements and translating the requirements to project designs to deliver solutions meeting client needs.
