The Marketing Excellence group within Deloitte’s Client & Market Growth organization is searching for an Client Storyteller that is adept with Editorial and Project Management responsibilities. The ideal candidate would be exceptional at writing compelling stories that bring to life the impact we make for our clients.

The position will require working with a wide range of professionals across the Deloitte organization to produce well-written, high-quality, and accurate narrative stories for the C-suite audience.

In addition to exceptional editorial and storytelling skills, the individual must be skilled in interviewing C-suite executives on complex business topics, comfortable working in an environment with daily deadlines, and flexible to changes in editorial assignments and direction. The individual also must possess a high level of professionalism and a commitment to quality.

The position will require editorial oversight responsibilities for all four of the Deloitte businesses (Risk & Financial Advisory, Audit, Consulting and Tax). This would include working with the businesses Executive Leadership and Editor-in-Chief to design and implement the editorial strategy for the businesses, interface with key stakeholders, SMEs and writers to manage the pipeline and set the weekly line up of articles. Assist in the management of full-time and freelance writers assigned to that businesses, including setting assignments and ensuring publication quality and risk standards and deadlines are met.

Specific writer/editor responsibilities include the following: 

  • Drafting informative, compelling, and balanced stories to meet executives’ information needs on a broad range of issues, including finance, strategy, operations, technology, board and regulatory matters.
  • Interviewing Deloitte senior leaders and clients, translating their insights and perspectives into informative articles.
  • Acting as Editor for all Deloitte businesses, working with executive leadership to set editorial strategy
  • Manage writers within the businesses including overseeing freelance workers, setting writing assignments, ensuring deadlines are met

Specific Strategic Marketer and Program Manager responsibilities include the following: 

  • Manage key stakeholder relationships by providing actionable strategic thinking and proactive counsel
  • Clear the way for strong, strategic creative to live; defend, support and foster good ideas
  • Ensure all client stories invoke brand standards and are cutting-edge, innovative, and of the highest quality
  • Define, maintain and drive prioritization of all marketing activities for client stories program

Qualifications include the following:

  • Experience writing on complex business topics for a news or publishing organization.
  • Impeccable ability to write narrative stories that are engaging and human-centric
  • Editorial management experience of the production process as well as a team of writers
  • Significant experience interviewing C-suite-level executives and board directors.
  • In-depth knowledge of English, spelling, grammar and punctuation; and of legal and ethical aspects of journalism, including their application to digital publishing.
  • An innovative mindset that can think strategically with a willingness to execute tactically
  • Strong organizational skills and project management skills – with ability to prioritize and manage expectations across multiple, complex projects/priorities with aggressive due dates and quick turn-around times
  • Ability to work under tight and daily deadlines and flexibility to changing requirements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a can-do attitude.
  • Well-developed time, resource, and project management skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, responsiveness, attention to detail, resourcefulness.
  • A commitment to excellence, professionalism, and timely communication.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Writing, English, Marketing or related area.
  • Travel of up to 15% (While 15% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice.)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
