The MAS Project Management Office (PMO) team supports key strategic initiatives and special projects at the MAS leadership level in order to facilitate communication across the practice, optimize financial reporting, identify market opportunities, streamline operational efficiencies, and undertake research and analysis to develop compelling and forward-looking perspectives that allow our practice to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to “what’s coming next.”


MAS PMO – Special Projects – Senior Analyst


The MAS PMO is seeking a senior analyst to assist in a wide variety of special projects in support of top tier U.S. M&A leadership and strategy. This person will serve as lead research expert in charge of accurately identifying, maintaining, and validating the categorization of MAS’s extensive client catalogue. This person will work closely with MAS PMO and MAS Finance teams to conduct various standard and customized research on the background of MAS clients, assist in key coordination across teams, and serve as the source of truth for MAS client categorization – particularly as it relates to private equity clients and the ebb and flow of portfolio company investments.

Furthermore, this person will also assist with recurring and ad-hoc projects related to financial revenue analysis, tracking and reporting internal growth metrics, communications support, data management for marketing activities, and pursuit tracing.

In addition to core research and analytical skills, knowledge of M&A, and an understanding of private equity clients, we are looking for self-driven professionals who are able to collaborate across teams and levels and can handle ambiguity while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Work you will do

The successful candidate’s main role will focus on performing targeted research focused on MAS clients and their primary entity type – Private Equity, Portfolio Company, Corporate/Strategic Buyer. The professional needs to develop scope of research, analyze quantitative and qualitative data, synthesize findings, build excel models, and efficiently track, record, and communicate changes of the client categorizations across multiple stakeholders on both a scheduled and ad-hoc basis to optimize monthly financial reporting.

Furthermore, the candidate will also assist US team counterparts in deriving revenue reports and deliverables by industry and function. This person will become familiar with our revenue data excel reports and leverage these sources to analyze results in order to address recurring and ad-hoc leadership requests. They will be proficient in translating raw data into easily consumable and visual charts and reports. In addition, they will assist, on an as-needed basis, with communications and marketing requests that entail leveraging outlook, word, and PowerPoint templates. This could also include activities to track and report on client or internal engagement for marketing events.

As specialist for MAS Client Categorizations:

Categorize accurately, timely and individually, each MAS client as private equity (PEI), portfolio company (PC), or corporate/strategic buyer (SB)

• Support MAS financial reporting efforts specific to PEI/PC, MAS strategic drivers (PEI Growth Initiative), and other related requests

• Actively coordinate and collaborate across India-based teams that support / interface with M&A (CORE, Research & Insights, Finance) to maximize efficiency and improve accuracy of results

• Serves as source of truth and hub for MAS Client Categorization. Works closely with broader Firm Finance team (CORE) to:

? Ensure data consistency is maintained at Firm level.

? Review CORE team’s PE entities specific to MAS and ensure they are still relevant based on strategy and circumstance

? Communicate monthly PC status changes specific to CORE’s tracked PE entities

• Maintain subject matter expertise on the private equity space and related business models (Venture Capital, Asset Management, etc.)

• Leverage databases, tools, and resources such as Pitchbook, Thomson Reuters, and D&B Hoovers, as well as other reliable online resources to conduct research

• Maintain a detailed tracking methodology for MAS entity categorizations

• Provide recurring client categorization mapping to MAS Finance

• Stay up to date on PE / PC related news and market trends


As special projects support on an as-needed basis:

• Assist with revenue analysis on an annual, YTD, and multiyear basis according to M&A Function, Industry, Sector, client type, and other variables

• Summarize revenue results in formats that are readily shareable with leadership

• Assist with media scans and news monitoring

• Analyze deal participation data for annual trends and point in time reporting

• Actively leverage Deloitte proprietary branding, templates, and guidelines to create visually enticing communications (e.g. newsletters, single communications, market event content, etc.)

• Assist on internal campaigns to assist with internal website content, updates, engagement tracking, and results monitoring and reporting

• Identify and build well-articulated proposals for process improvements and deliverable enhancements

• Identify opportunities to streamline repetitive processes through automation

• Seek feedback from key stakeholders and incorporate suggestions into deliverables; keep track of the feedback for future purposes


Candidate Profile:

• Overall 5-6 years of research experience, with at least 3 years of hands-on research and analysis experience in the M&A space; and solid understanding of the private equity space and related business models (Venture Capital, Asset Management, etc.)

• Good understanding of financial statements and business fundamentals

• Basic understanding of M&A lifecycle, especially the US M&A market

• Capable of extracting information/executing research for meetings, calls, and project proposals

• Ability to tie together qualitative research with quantitative data and present results in intuitive graphical and tabular formats for senior leaders

• Exceptional attention to detail with strong qualitative skills and a passion for analysis

• Capable of handling large data sets

• Experience in working with US clients/stakeholders is a must as the job requires significant coordination with US colleagues

• Capable of thinking creatively and flexibly; maintains a critical eye for design

• Storyteller who can derive valuable insights from raw data and present them in enticing formats

• Self-motivated and strong team player, preferably with experience working in virtual teams

• Ability to deal with ambiguity and work in a fast-paced research environment

• Highly developed personal and professional ethics are expected

• An ability to build professional relationships, a spirit of co-operation, and a flexible approach to work are required


Required Skills:

• Proficiency in using Pitchbook, Thomson Reuters, and D&B Hoovers databases

• Mastery of Microsoft Office tools, primarily Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

• Ability to write custom code using the Visual Basic Application (VBA) and build excel models from scratch is strongly preferred

• Excellent organizational/time management skills

• Solid problem-solving, storyboarding, and critical thinking skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Additional skills desired / added advantages:

o Programming skills for R, Access, and T-SQL.

o Experience with business intelligence (BI) tools like Tableau, Qlik, Microsoft BI.

Qualifications, experience, work location, and timing

• Academic qualifications: Professional qualification from reputed institutes preferred: MBA/PGDBM equivalent, or, Master's degree in International Business, or, CFA, or, Other Master’s Degree like MBE/MFC

• Work experience: 5+ years

• Location: Hyderabad

• Work hours: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM (expected to stretch during busy periods)
