As a member of the Security Control Assessor (SCA) team it’s our mission to accurately identify the appropriate assessment requirements for the Navy risk management framework (RMF) process and analyze the overall risk of traditional Navy IT systems and provide accurate risk assessments to the Navy Authorizing Official. In addition we provide extensive RMF training to all Navy commands fleetwide. We are also an integral part of Navy RMF policy development, which shapes the Navy Assess and Authorize process. The Cybersecurity Engineer (SCA Liaison) is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing cybersecurity capabilities and services, providing leadership, team coordination, and subject matter expertise in preparing Assessment and Authorization (A&A) packages and leverages the A&A process steps as a means for system authorization.Work you’ll do
- Responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing cybersecurity capabilities and services, providing leadership, team coordination, and subject matter expertise in Assessment and Authorization (A&A) packages and leverages the A&A process steps as a means for system authorization.
- Review and analyze Plans of Actions and Milestones (POAMs), Security Assessment Reports (SAR), Security Assessment Plans (SAP).
- Conduct required vulnerability analysis to support mitigation and residual risk determination.
- Provide Risk Management Framework guidance and assistance to system engineers and program managers on assessment and risk-related matters, and make risk recommendations.
- Review security requirements, products, configurations, and cybersecurity architectures for compliance with DoD policies.
- Support a general working knowledge of applicable assessment methods, such as Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and automated vulnerability scans, and analyze technical test data.

Qualifications
Required:
- An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this role.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least two (2) or more years of IA/cybersecurity experience in the federal space (US Navy or USAF cyber support highly desired given those clients’ commitments to RMF).
- Familiarity with eMASS and A&A package entry.
- Strong knowledge of DoD 8510.01 and the United States Navy Risk Management Framework Process Guide and the Office of the Navy SCA Risk Management Framework Risk Assessment Guide.
- Knowledge of DoD 8500 Series Policies, CNSSI 4009, NIST SP 800-53 Security Control Catalog, CNSS 1253, CNSSI 1253, and NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-53.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity tools such as ACAS, HBSS, SCAP, STIGs, SRGs.
- Ability to create and present well organized oral & written briefs.
- MUST BE LOCAL TO SAN DIEGO, CA
- Active Top Secret or TS/SCI is highly desired.
