Work you'll do: 

As a Corporate Intelligence Services professional you role will predominantly be responsible for supporting U.S. based background investigations by performing research in domestic public records databases and other data sources to identify relevant litigation, criminal records, bankruptcy records, tax liens, adverse media, regulatory issues, and/or sanction and watch list records on entities and individuals.  You will also analyze and summarize these records into an organized and standardized written report.

If fluent in another language, the professional may be responsible for performing similar investigations on subjects in other jurisdictions, utilizing their language skills and relevant regional data sources

The Team:  

The Corporate Intelligence Services group within Deloitte Advisory Forensic & Financial Crime consists of highly trained investigators and intelligence specialists with extensive experience in due diligence, litigation support, fraud and other investigations. We conduct investigative research on subjects based virtually anywhere in the world in a timely and cost-effective manner, including those jurisdictions where public records are sparse.

Businesses, including Deloitte itself, need accurate information about entities and their executives and the potential risks that they may present when considering mergers, acquisitions, strategic relationships or investments. By performing effective due diligence, companies may help avoid serious legal complications. On each assignment, our professionals uncover, analyze and report relevant information to help clients make informed decisions.

If fraud is suspected, companies often require in-depth background investigations to unravel the problem. Our team performs investigations of parties suspected of wrongdoing, searches for conflicts of interest and undisclosed business affiliations, and in general seeks to uncover evidence of fraud.

Qualifications:

 Required:

  • Research skills
  • Inquisitive with an investigative mindset
  • Demonstrated interest in business and/or legal issues 
  • Ability to analyze and summarize numerous types of documents and written materials
  • Strong writing skills, with ability to create polished deliverables in an organized format
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated technical excellence, with proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and internet search strategies
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and perform work on multiple engagements or reports simultaneously
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United Stated without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with domestic and/or international public records databases and Internet sources (e.g. Accurint, Lexis, PACER, Westlaw, social media platforms)
  • 1+ years of investigative experience with a private investigative firm or equivalent professional services firm
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking a foreign language
  • Bachelor's degree
