Lead Data Architect – BankingSuite

Deloitte’s Product Transformation and BankingSuite

Deloitte recently launched the Converge™ hybrid market offering as part of a $750M investment in product development over the next 5 years, which will blend the agility of a startup and the reach of a leading professional services firm. Converge is launching a Banking Suite product line to compete in the exciting FinTech ecosystem, which will focus on delivering a world-class customer experience for consumer and small businesses of smaller banks and non-banks. The Banking Suite platform is a cloud-native stack at every layer and aims to help Banking Suite clients compete with large bank incumbents and FinTechs with the flexibility to deliver innovative marketing, product, and pricing strategies, while enjoying dramatically lower digital bank operating costs. The Banking Suite team is looking to build a FinTech startup team with a passion for innovation and the experience to launch a high-quality digital banking product.

Work You’ll Do

  • Enterprise data strategy, data architecture, data science, design, and governance for BankingSuite’s enterprise banking systems, inclusive of internal and external business and systems integration.
  • Provide bank clients with extreme insights on customer usage and profitability through structured and well-defined business intelligence reports, so that they can make actionable improvements to their marketing, risk, cross-sell, and retention strategies.
  • Improve product and technology design and execution efficiency by creating logical and physical data architecture deliverables, defining enterprise data integration patterns across multiple client financial systems and external partners, and selecting the right modern data technologies to scale the business to millions of customers and billions of transactions.
  • Ensure our greenfield BankingSuite data stores are customer-oriented, well-structured, extensible, scalable, and distributable to multiple bank clients in a standard and cost-effective fashion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create data architecture deliverables that elevate BankingSuite as the go-to BaaS platform by creating a customer-centric and aggregated data hub for delivering innovative custom features, such as extreme business intelligence and client configurability, while enabling best-of-breed FinTech vendors to deliver specialized value in a plug-and-play fashion
  • Maintain current business-oriented data architecture documentation with traceability to concrete data stores, and with direction to future state solutions
  • Gain consensus on business and technical data strategy decisions and ensure that appropriate resources are employed to deliver high quality results
  • Accelerate BankingSuite’s data science and data visualization techniques to support our client’s ability to make fast and informed changes to their business. Make our clients say “Wow” when discovering how awesome our insights and actionable changes to the business can be.
  • Define B2B client KPI’s, create funnel management reports, and deliver well-informed and repeatable business intelligence solutions
  • Own the data model for supporting multiple business models (i.e. white label vs. co-brand vs. direct to consumer), business processes (i.e. sales vs. service), and channels (web vs. mobile app vs. call center)
  • Perform R&D, acquire, and consume data from external partner and vendor systems
  • Select, install, and manage the latest AWS data technologies that scale to millions of customers and billions of transactions
  • Ensure all build vs. buy data decisions and vendor solutions are continuously evaluated for fit against BankingSuite’s business strategy
  • Own the design and governance of data across dev, test, and production systems to support high quality delivery and effective use of comprehensive test harnesses
  • Optimize the storage and performance tuning of data to balance high performing systems with lowest possible computing costs
  • Make the “right bets” on data technologies, such as AWS Aurora, Dynamo, Redshift, Quicksight, etc. that are about to “cross-the-chasm” for providing business value
  • Ensure stakeholders and B2B client prospects are continuously informed of the quality of the BankingSuite’s enterprise data architecture. Ensure a clear and concise data model is delivered to external stakeholders via well-written platform documentation.
  • Interact with executive management, sales, product, technology and business operations to define and deliver complex fin-tech solutions

  • Expert in data architecture methods and tools (i.e. TOGAF), strategic planning, business intelligence systems, data warehousing, real time data stores, EAI patterns, and KPI frameworks for large and complex financial platforms
  • Expert with AWS-based data technologies including Aurora, Dynamo and Redshift.
  • Some experience with data science and willingness to learn/grow with BankingSuite’s emerging data strategy
  • Experience in enterprise-class problem solving and data architecture definition impacting $10M’s to $100M’s in strategic outcomes. Ability to leverage the right level of data architecture processes to provide tangible strategic value on an ongoing basis
  • Experience with financial technologies including core banking and/or payment systems, record keeping systems, and personal financial management
  • Experience with SaaS platform build, multi-tenancy and greenfield development
  • Experience with orchestrating B2C, B2B, and B2B2C go to market strategies
  • Experience with executing large data conversions in a timely and high-quality manner
  • Experience with implementing, tuning, and scaling large data stores with 100M’s of records to optimize performance and cost
  • Proficient with emerging DataOps and DevOps methods and tools, such as agile/scrum, continuous integration, automated configuration management, test driven development, and data center/cloud automation
  • Proven experience of working in a complex environment where relationship building is critical, yet at the same time being entrepreneurial and fast-paced
  • Waterfall and agile project management experience and the understanding to leverage both methods
  • Experience developing and optimizing engineering processes with a proven track record of measurable continuous improvements
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science or related field (M.S. preferred)

  • Ability to think big and dive deep; to personally touch the data and technologies for validating strategic recommendations
