Deloitte’s Product Transformation and BankingSuite

Deloitte recently launched the Converge™ hybrid market offering as part of a $750M investment in product development over the next 5 years, which will blend the agility of a startup and the reach of a leading professional services firm. Converge is launching a Banking Suite product line to compete in the exciting FinTech ecosystem, which will focus on delivering a world-class customer experience for consumer and small businesses of smaller banks and non-banks. The Banking Suite platform is a cloud-native stack at every layer and aims to help Banking Suite clients compete with large bank incumbents and FinTechs with the flexibility to deliver innovative marketing, product, and pricing strategies, while enjoying dramatically lower digital bank operating costs. The Banking Suite team is looking to build a FinTech startup team with a passion for innovation and the experience to launch a high-quality digital banking product.

Work You'll Do

  • Design, build, operate, and monitor the DevOps systems architecture (applications and technologies) across all BankingSuite platform components, inclusive of internal and external systems integration with both strategic and hands-on responsibilities.
  • Lead DevOps strategic shift towards a full Banking-as-a-Service offering with an intent to yield dramatic cost reductions and revenue gains for B2B clients by delivering a modern cloud-native banking platform with an industry leading customer experience.
  • Become the “go to” technology leader for enabling an efficient multi-tenant SaaS platform.
  • Create a framework to measure “cost per user” and execute strategic methods to improve variable and fixed costs as the business scales.
  • Manage the DevOps teams to balance priorities between platform and developer efficiency objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design a highly available and sufficiently componentized AWS systems architecture that can support rapid changes in a high-quality fashion. Ensure business cohesion across system components
  • Define a modern AWS DevOps model that ensures reliability, scalability, repeatability, security, high performance, and quality through automated functional tests, load tests, and pen tests, as well as testability through environment symmetry and immutable deployments
  • Understand and own high complexity technical problems, identify constraints that block multi-tenancy and per-client cost efficiency goals, and engineer and/or manage solutions (infrastructure or application level) that transform BankingSuite into a full cloud-native platform
  • Ensure the technology solution can support both B2C and white-label business models with maximum re-use and/or segmentation in the right areas of the architecture
  • Identify system break points and design/execute horizontal or vertical scaling solutions to grow the BankingSuite platform to 10X scale potential. Contribute deeply to all performance testing and engineering efforts.
  • Build and manage an AWS cost model to ensure the right strategic decisions are made to control costs as the business scales
  • Ensure all DevOps build vs. buy decisions and vendor solutions are continuously evaluated for fit against BankingSuite’s business strategy.
  • Ensure development, testing, and production environments are sufficiently segregated, automatically configurable and synchronized, with seamless deployment across environments
  • Make the “right bets” on technologies that are about to “cross-the-chasm” for providing business value, especially related to platform multi-tenancy
  • Ensure large financial clients are continuously informed of the quality of the BankingSuite’s enterprise systems architecture
  • Document the enterprise systems architecture with traceability from large systems components to detailed specifications and run-books
  • Ensure new or junior developers are quickly on-boarded and able to add immediate value through extreme DevOps automation and symmetry of individual and integrated development environments



  • 5+ years’ experience as a strategic and hands-on AWS DevOps expert with enterprise-class problem solving skills. Must have a passion for defining the big-picture, validating designs through hands-on DevOps engineering, and scaling out best practices to multiple DevOps engineers
  • Must be proficient in cloud-native and serverless app development technologies and techniques with the following enterprise technologies (or like representations): Java (Spring Boot a plus), AWS Cloud Native, PaaS solutions, API platforms, IaC techniques, DNS and load balancers, networking components, web apps, iOS apps, Android apps, HTML/Javascript, RDBMS and no SQL servers, and security technologies such as SSL/TLS. 
  • Expert with emerging DevOps methods and tools, such as agile/scrum, continuous integration, automated configuration management, test driven development, and data center/cloud automation
  • Expert at release management techniques, including approaches to guarantee perfect deployments with minimal downtime
  • Must have experience with enterprise systems integration patterns in large financial companies, as well as experience in startup environments. Some of the following financial technologies: core banking and/or payment systems, record keeping systems, and personal financial management with ability to leverage custom platform DevOps techniques to manage remote vendor systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s degree preferred)


  • Ability to cultivate skills and manage team performance, guiding DevOps individuals in career progression, promotions, performance improvement, and hiring practices.
  • The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) - Enterprise Architect discipline with a focus on Enterprise IT Systems (App, Data, Technology) is a plus  

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $98,000-$180,000.

  • You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
