Position Summary

As a Senior Consultant in Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory’s Controllership Services practice, you will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside leading professionals while building your professional skills in a variety of digital finance and accounting specialties including reporting, process optimization, reconciliation, internal controls, and other areas including the Workiva technology platform.

You will be involved in developing business requirements, policies and procedures, technical and data transformation requirements, and designing/ implementing a variety of solutions that help clients address challenging business issues. You may also be exposed to other disciplines and solutions within Controllership Services, including Accounting Information Science, ERPs, Profitability & Analytics, RPA and more.

Work you’ll do

You will optimize processes, develop requirements, create roadmaps, manipulate/manage data connections, configure workflows, create templates, and establish permissions to deliver meaningful process transformation, leveraging the connected reporting platform by Workiva. Senior Consultant responsibilities include:

  • Working with clients to understand their business challenges and identify solutions to drive desired outcomes
  • Performing current state assessment of client accounting, reporting, reconciliation, data, and algorithm capabilities
  • Defining system requirements, demonstrating capabilities, designing, prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures and implementing reporting solutions
  • Mapping data flows (structured/unstructured) and identifying optimal design and governance options as well as potential risks
  • Developing business solutions leveraging emerging automation, cognitive, and machine learning tools
  • Focus on accounting and finance domain areas will include management/ cost accounting, intercompany accounting, consolidations accounting, accrual accounting, predictive accounting, and enterprise data modeling
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to travel 30%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

The Deloitte Digital Controllership team works closely with purpose-built automation technologies in the market to help our clients improve accounting processes, build / configure accounting automation solutions, and develop governance/controls around these tools. Our Controllership Transformation professionals make extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, rules-based methods, and accounting technology to bring insights to client issues in all industries.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following majors with relevant business, technology, data and/or analytical focused coursework: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Industrial Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based financial software/relational databases
  • Project based experience in areas such as business process mapping, root cause/gap analysis/best fit, requirements gathering / definition development, financial modeling, and value mapping
  • Experience with ERP, GRC, GL, FP&A, or Analytics & Reporting processes, solutions, and their related technology platforms (SaaS/Cloud based) and architectures
  • Configuration experience in one or more of the following financial / data applications: SAP, Oracle, Workday, Workiva, BlackLine, Alteryx, Trintech or similar
  • Proven ability to gather business needs and design/deliver highly effective demonstrations of complex business solutions and software tailored to the needs of operational users, management, and executives
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to travel 30%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred Experience:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Mobile computing, relational databases, database design, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, OneCloud, MuleSoft, Thompson Reuters, RR Donnelly, FloQast
  • Experience in programming (SQL/JSON/REST/PYTHON) with a solid foundation in computer science
  • Demonstrated expertise in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented software design, and/or working with cloud-based distributed systems
  • Knowledge of HTTP and web protocols
  • CPA, CIA, CFA, CA, CCA, CMA, CAIA or FRM certification, or working towards achieving one of these certifications

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $105,900 to $ 176,000.
