Position Summary

Senior Associate (Senior Consultant level) Consulting Corporate Development

Consulting Corporate Development is looking for high performing Senior Associate level resources to support evaluation and analysis of investment opportunities for Consulting Corporate Development team on a full-time basis

Work you’ll do

The Senior Associate role works with CD on proactive pursuit of high priority acquisition areas for Consulting, evaluates reactive opportunities and manages active projects.  This role will work on teams composed of full-time Consulting Corporate Development leadership (SM/M) and project resources on a day to day basis and report into Consulting Corporate Development senior and executive leadership. 

The Senior Associate role will work on pre-close investments including acquisitions, global investments and large scale organic investments.  Specific responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Supporting development of inorganic growth strategies for practice areas prioritized for investment; leading focused workstreams and analyses
  • Market landscape analysis
  • Targeting and screening of potential acquisitions
  • Supporting and/or leading stages of the acquisition process including:
    • Development of strategic rationale for investment (market analysis, competitive analysis, business model development)
    • Building the financial business case for investment
    • Commercial due diligence planning and execution
    • Development of documents for governance approval
  • Leading design and development of the financial business case for investment including:
    • Scoping data interrogation and financial analysis
    • Assumptions development
    • Financial statement modeling including development of complete prospective financial statements
    • Quality assurance
  • Developing strong personal brand for acquisition process and analytical expertise with practice leadership
  • Developing experience leading teams of peer and junior resources to complete responsibilities
  • Supporting development of executive presentations to present a compelling analysis and case for/against investment

Qualifications

Key activities include:

  • Working with practice leaders to refine, prioritize and roadmap growth priorities
  • Evaluating potential investments and developing compelling recommendations based on analysis
  • Articulating the business’s future state operating model principles, working with business and Corporate Development leaders to develop specific operating model structures and tactics
  • Note that this role will not lead post-merger integration efforts but will be responsible for driving an orderly handoff to a full-time PMI team

§    Interest and aptitude in learning strategic frameworks and analyses to evaluate business problems

§  Logical structuring

§  Hypothesis based analysis

§  Experience with common methods and tools for interrogating business data

§  Able to tell a compelling business story through analysis

§    Strong experience in data analysis and financial modeling including:

§  Business case development

§  DCF Modeling

§  Financial statement analysis and construction

§  Financial planning and analysis

§    Experience throughout the acquisition lifecycle with a focus on acquisition strategy, strategic and financial analysis and due diligence are a plus but not required

§    Interest in high-growth emerging technology areas: e.g., Digital technologies, Cloud, Internet of Things, Cognitive Science/Artificial Intelligence

§    Strong communication and relationship building skills

§    Strong attention to detail

§    Self-motivated, results oriented and able to work independently, and cooperatively within a team

§    Successful candidates will have 5+ years of experience including Buy side Banking, Corporate Development, or Strategy Consulting experience
