Consulting Corporate Development Associate (Enabling Consultant)

Consulting Corporate Development is looking for high performing Associate level resources to support evaluation and analysis of investment opportunities for Consulting Corporate Development team on a full-time basis

Work you’ll do

The Associate role works with CD on proactive pursuit of high priority acquisition areas for Consulting, evaluates reactive opportunities and manages active projects.  This role will work on teams composed of full-time Consulting Corporate Development leadership (SM/M) and project resources on a day to day basis and report into Consulting Corporate Development senior and executive leadership. 

The Associate role will work on large scale investments including acquisitions and other strategic growth priorities.  Specific responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Supporting development of inorganic growth strategies for practice areas prioritized for investment; leading focused workstreams and analyses
  • Market landscape analysis
  • Targeting and screening of potential acquisitions
  • Supporting stages of the acquisition process including:
    • Development of strategic rationale for investment (market analysis, competitive analysis, business model development)
    • Constructing the financial business case for investment
    • Commercial due diligence planning and execution
    • Development of documents for governance approval
  • Data interrogation and financial analysis
  • Financial modeling including development of complete prospective financial statements
  • Evaluating alternative operating model and business model considerations
  • Developing a strong personal brand for acquisition process and analytical expertise with practice leadership
  • Supporting the development of executive presentations to present a compelling analysis and case for/against investment

The team

Corporate Development

The Deloitte Consulting Corporate Development Team is composed of professionals with deep expertise in organic and inorganic growth strategy, development of business models, financial analysis and reporting and M&A transaction execution and integration.  Together, they drive strategic investments for our practice that deliver transformational growth and incremental earnings. 



  • 3+ years of Buy-side Banking, Corporate Development, or Strategy Consulting experience
  • Experience in data analysis and financial modeling including:
    • Business case development
    • DCF Modeling
    • Financial statement analysis and construction
    • Financial planning and analysis
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented and able to work independently, and cooperatively within a team

  • Interest and aptitude in learning strategic frameworks and analyses to evaluate business problems
    • Logical structuring
    • Hypothesis based analysis
    • Experience with common methods and tools for interrogating business data
    • Able to tell a compelling business story through analysis
  • Experience throughout the acquisition lifecycle with a focus on acquisition strategy, strategic and financial analysis and due diligence are a plus but not required
  • Interest in high-growth emerging technology areas: e.g., Digital technologies, Cloud, Internet of Things, Cognitive Science/Artificial Intelligence
  • Location: Washington DC, Chicago, Philadelphia or New York
