Work you’ll do 

Seeking a Chief Architect to support the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) located in Monterey, California. (resource not required to reside in Monterey, CA). We are looking for a candidate with experience architecting, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting IT infrastructure (compute, storage, and network) components within a high availability enterprise environment and commercial cloud. The candidate will collaborate with other technical SMEs to gain insight and consensus and ultimately a path toward solving diverse technical challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform as the Chief Architect in working with staff to guide, direct, and mentor them.
  • Provide expertise in all IT infrastructure (compute, storage, and network) areas in a highly virtualize environment.
  • Support production environments including their respective test environments on a 24x7x365 basis.
  • Perform assessments of the capacity and performance of the IT infrastructure. 
  • Provide knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) organizational security policies and procedures.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) of performance issues that affect the reliability, recoverability, availability, and accessibility of systems and applications.
  • Develop target state architectures for the next generation of IT infrastructure.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required. 
  • Working knowledge of Oracle databases; Cisco networking; Solaris, RHEL, and Windows operating systems; VMware virtualization; NetApp and Hitachi storage; and ServiceNow ITSM application.
  • Over ten years of experience maintaining IT infrastructure in a datacenter environment.
  • Experience supporting the US military, Department of Defense (DoD), or military-industrial complex as a service member, civilian, contractor, or consultant.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Oracle OEM.
  • Level III Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) certification, as defined in DoD 8570.01-M and required by DoDD 8140.01.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
