Position Summary

New Product Strategist

Deloitte is looking for entrepreneurs with a passion for solving the world’s most pressing Life Sciences and Health Care-related problems to join our Catalyst Innovation Hub.

Position summary

As an entrepreneur in our Catalyst Innovation Hub, you will be focused on identifying and incubating ideas that have the best opportunity to become high-growth technology businesses within Deloitte.  You will be involved with the entire “pre-seed” business invention process: Market opportunity analysis, problem statement definition, customer research, solution design, prototyping & validation, business model design, and business case development for firm investment.

We are looking for creative, entrepreneurially minded, self-starters. Ideal candidates likely possess early-stage startup or product strategy experience and/or Founder experience. Top candidates will be customer-obsessed and have a unique blend of strategy, creativity, and technology experience. Life sciences or health care experience is preferred but not required – we value outside industry perspectives.

The Team: Deloitte Catalyst sits at the heart of Deloitte’s product innovation ambitions. You’ll work alongside other innovators who are passionate about building and launching new products and businesses. It is our mission to transform Deloitte from a traditional management consulting firm into a technology-based solutions provider that helps our clients disrupt their industries. The teams within our hubs are industry-aligned and we work with the broader consulting practice to uncover big problems for our clients and build new products and services to solve them. As part of this team, you will have unlimited access to the brain trust of Deloitte practitioners with expertise in nearly every industry and business topic. Hubs are made up of strategists, researchers, designers, and dev teams who work with Industry consulting leaders to further their innovation agendas in the marketplace and we bring an outside-in perspective on un-met client needs.

Activities: As a Catalyst entrepreneur, you and your team will own the incubation process end-to-end and will conduct customer discovery and market research required to validate product/market fit for your business ideas.  Activities will include secondary market research, developing a deep understanding of users/buyers via primary research, concepting and prototyping, business model definition, financial analysis, feature definition and road mapping, leading build teams, and collaborating with internal/external SMEs.

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in startups, digital product strategy, digital product management, digital product development, innovation, or innovation consulting
  • Natural problem solver and driver with strong ability to apply structured thinking in ambiguous situations, determine next steps, and delegate among teammates
  • Demonstrated ability to transform user, customer, and business needs into features and product requirements (e.g. epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, etc.)
  • Strong ambition to learn and flexibility to adapt via experiments, research, and testing
  • Experience working with design teams to create prototypes through the wireframes and visual designs with an empathetic view of the customer problem
  • Experience designing and conducting market tests with end users and economical buyers in the field
  • Financial acumen, including the ability to estimate TAM/SAM/SOM, evaluate market opportunities critically, and develop a 5-year P&L
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to manage stakeholders with competing priorities
  • Detailed organizational skills and ability to operate autonomously as well as coach peers to drive collective work forward
  • Ability to work with senior leadership with varying perspectives; ability to synthesize information and provide a data-backed, best-fit recommendation
  • Demonstrated devotion to DEI principles and advocacy
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to travel up to 15% for team co-location and research

  • Experience in Life Sciences (Pharma or Medical Device), Payer, or Provider, or Retail & Consumer Products, or Tech
  • Previous experience in entrepreneurship including working in or with startups, starting your own business or side business, etc.
  • Masters or MBA degree or significant coursework in these or related areas of study:
    • Health Care Administration / Public Health
    • Health Care or Life Sciences more generally, including biomedical engineering, etc
    • Digital Strategy
    • Design Strategy
    • Product Management
    • Technology Leadership
  • Demonstrated involvement in continued learning and curiosity around Life Sciences and Health Care industry fundamentals and market dynamics

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $103,000 to $189,000. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
