Position Summary

POSITION: CFO Program Writer

The U.S. CFO Program aims to enhance Deloitte's CFO market position by focusing on the specific challenges, needs and demands CFOs face, and equipping our Deloitte colleagues to build and sustain meaningful relationships with CFOs and senior finance executives of key clients. The Program does this through an outstanding portfolio of offerings and assets that span across a finance executive’s career journey.

The Program is searching for a seasoned writer/editor to contribute to the CFO Program offerings and assets. The writer will primarily contribute to two CFO Program offerings – CFO Vision and CFO Insights. CFO Insights is a bi-weekly publication that circulates to almost 40K subscribers and covers topics of importance to finance chiefs and other C-suite executives in an easy-to-read, 1500-word format. Content is both practical and informative and leverages the work of Deloitte subject matter experts, as well as the perspectives of senior finance executives. CFO Vision is Deloitte’s annual CFO conference—a world-class gathering of CFOs that offers an exclusive opportunity to hear insights and perspectives from thought leaders on issues that are top of mind for CFOs. Writer responsibilities for CFO Vision would include synthesizing broad finance themes into consistent and concise messaging to be used in all event materials and communications.

The position will require working with a wide range of professionals across Deloitte to produce and distribute well-written, high-quality, and accurate articles for the C-suite audience. The individual also must possess a high level of professionalism and a commitment to quality.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Drafting informative, compelling, and balanced stories to meet executives’ information needs on a broad range of issues, including finance, strategy, operations, technology, board, and regulatory matters.
  • Interviewing Deloitte subject matter experts, translating their insights and perspectives into informative articles.
  • Researching, conducting, and drafting interviews of C-suite and other senior executives.
  • Creating intriguing and informational descriptions for agenda topics.
  • Writing speaker notes and scripts for CFO Program leadership.
  • Preparing questions for C-suite and other senior executives.
  • Leveraging existing Deloitte thoughtware to develop content tailored to the C-suite when necessary.
  • Incorporating CFO Program content into CFO Insights
  • Collaborating with other CFO Program and Executive Accelerators team members to identify topics to cover.
  • Collaborating with design and marketing teams to produce and distribute individual issues of CFO Insights.
  • Working with reviewers from our Risk oversight group and other internal teams to approve all materials.
  • Helping to expand traffic to publication site through social media.

Qualifications include the following:

  • Eight or more years’ experience writing on complex business and financial topics for a news or publishing organization.
  • A strong working knowledge of current and emerging business trends in the US and abroad that impact C-suite executives, particularly CFOs.
  • Significant experience interviewing finance executives, C-suite-level professionals, and a wide-range of subject matter experts.
  • In-depth knowledge of English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; and of legal and ethical aspects of journalism, including their application to digital publishing.

  • Well-developed time, resource, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications and working knowledge of AP Manual of Style.
  • Experience in using social media to increase readership and amplify content across different channels.
  • Willingness to adhere to Deloitte standards for quality and brand.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. We have been informed of instances where jobseekers are led to believe of fictitious job opportunities with Deloitte US (“Deloitte”). In one or more such cases, false promises of actual or potential selection, or initiation or completion of the recruitment formalities appear to have been or are being made. Some jobseekers appear to have been asked to pay money to specified bank accounts of individuals or entities as a condition of their selection for a ‘job’ with Deloitte. These individuals or entities are in no way connected with Deloitte and do not represent or otherwise act on behalf of Deloitte.

We would like to clarify that:

  • At Deloitte, ethics and integrity are fundamental and not negotiable.
  • We are against corruption and neither offer bribes nor accept them, nor induce or permit any other party to make or receive bribes on our behalf.

  • We consider candidates on merit and that we provide an equal opportunity to eligible applicants.
  • No one other than designated Deloitte personnel (e.g., a Deloitte recruiter or Deloitte hiring partner) is permitted to extend any job offer from Deloitte.

Anyone who at any time has made or makes any payment to any party in exchange for promises of job or selection for a job with Deloitte or any matter related to this (including those for ‘registration’, ‘verification’ or ‘security deposit’) or otherwise engages with any such person who has made or makes fraudulent promises or offers, does so (or has done so) entirely at their own risk. Deloitte takes no responsibility or liability for any such unauthorized or fraudulent actions or engagements. We encourage jobseekers to exercise caution.
