Work You’ll Do

Interface with internal audit, business, IT, and members of executive management to design and implement solutions. Help to identify and evaluate complex business process and technology risks by understanding the client’s business environment and systems infrastructure. Review audit documentation for quality assurance and compliance with regulatory requirements. Play a substantive role with project management by supporting engagement planning, economics, billing and staffing, including preparing weekly status reports. Coordinate activities of junior staff. Map data flows and identify optimal design and control options as well as potential risks. Play a substantive role in Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) implementation assessments focused on identifying key policy, control, and process gaps related to the new FASB impairment standard across various business groups such as Governance, Data, Modeling, Financial Reporting and SOX. Assist in assessment and evaluation of internal controls to support financial statement audits in accordance with AICPA and PCAOB standards. Participate in risk assessments, determine audit plans, execute audit programs, assess issues, and work with management to determine remediation plans and track progress. Under supervision, audit SSAE18 controls and identify and evaluate complex business process and technology risks. Actively participate in decision making with engagement management and seek to understand the broader impact of current decisions. Assist with the development of control frameworks encompassing regulatory requirements, including privacy and SOX, and application security designs. Will commute within the McLean VA area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of experience testing business process controls and internal audit controls.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • Performing auditing in accordance with Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) standards, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), COBIT, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and COSO frameworks;
    • Assessing the impact of internal control deficiencies on overall financial statement audit procedures and the opinions issued for internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with SOX Section 404;
    • Providing guidance to clients on compliance issues with COSO, U.S. GAAP, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
    • Assessing automated business process controls utilizing technologies, including Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Database, UNIX, and PeopleSoft G/L;
    • Documenting clients’ business processes, identifying key controls, and addressing risk of material misstatements on financial statements;
    • Conducting risk assessment, risk ranking, automated control design, control GAP analysis, manual control design, and risk control matrix (RCM) documentation for clients within the financial services industry;
    • Performing assessments, remediation, integration, and control implementation in client Information Technology environments, including operating systems and databases;
    • Conducting meetings with clients’ business process teams to discuss business processes, internal control risk management, IT controls, and related regulatory and compliance standards; and
    • Preparing audit working papers to document audit procedures performed in assessing the operating effectiveness of internal audit controls in accordance with PCAOB and AICPA standards.
  • Less than 10% travel outside of normal commuting distance.
