Work You’ll Do

Responsible for all areas of the risk management process and provide a disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of an organization's risk management, controls, and governance processes. Using a risk-based approach, work with clients to manage risk and improve performance and operating efficiency. Participate in the development of internal audit strategic plans, re-engineer existing internal audit operations, provide specialized resources or completely outsource the internal audit function. Perform Sarbanes Oxley testing or SOX attestation testing. Participate in IT audits. Perform application control testing. Contribute to a strong client relationship through interactions with client personnel. Gather requirements for specific client engagements as they relate to specific business needs and industry or functional specialties. Assist with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation projects. Responsible for small components of engagements including engagement planning and ensure that products and deliverables meet client requirements and industry standards. Identify and evaluate complex business and technology risks, internal controls that mitigate risks, and related opportunities for internal control improvement. Will commute within the Detroit, MI area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.



  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of IT controls testing experience.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • Assessing the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of general IT controls surrounding access security, system change control, and data center and network operations under AICPA and PCAOB standards;
    • Testing within databases (including Oracle, SQL and Progress), operating systems (including Windows and Linux) and applications (including SAP, Oracle HFM Oracle HRMS, BlackLine, QAD Enterprise Edition, and Salesforce);
    • Conducting walkthrough discussion and performing risk assessments to tailor the audit approach to the client’s IT environment;
    • Creating Visio diagrams to map out the logical data flow across various applications, databases, and operating systems for clients;
    • Communicating audit findings identified throughout the course of audit with leadership and coordinating the discussion to evaluate and resolve issues;
    • Identifying control weaknesses in the client’s IT environment and collaborating with clients on deficiency remediation and exposure testing;
    • Utilizing Microsoft Access to import large data sets and integrate data from multiple tables to create relational databases and streamlining data analysis to meet client needs and facilitate business decisions;
    • Analyzing SQL and JavaScript to evaluate required logic and parameters used by clients to extract data from the target systems; and
    • Mentoring and coaching junior team members.
  • Less than 10% travel outside of normal commuting distance.
