Position Summary

Strategic Research Analyst - Senior

Seeking an experienced senior with strong technical expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Audit and Assurance requirements to apply both a technical and a strategic mindset to strategic intelligence sensing - bringing the “Audit & Assurance lens” to research performed. This senior will have the opportunity to identify research and sensing opportunities and be a key-player in the development of strategic actions that innovate and advance Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance market offerings, including their underlying business, talent, and operating models. This role has an exceptional opportunity to positively impact the practice’s strategy and operations.


The work you’ll do
This individual is expected to:

  • Lead the development of research and sensing plans across a number of topics, working independently on multiple assignments in a virtual environment
  • Perform research and sensing analysis, synthesizing large amounts of information, while applying a strong technical acumen to identify the intelligence that is relevant to the Audit & Assurance practice and the associated strategic action recommendation
  • Provide recommendations for strategic action and form action plans in response to the recommendation, applying a clear and concise communication
  • Perform ongoing sensing to identify new areas for differentiation in the marketplace including the identification of white space opportunities.
  • Oversee a global research analyst team, providing guidance and the Audit & Assurance lens to all research tasks
  • Develop new tools and visualizations to support deliverables
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Audit and Assurance, or a related field
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • This role will require strong project management skills & agility to develop and adapt action plans
  • The role requires a strong technical acumen and expertise of the audit process to be able to bring the Audit & Assurance lens to all research
  • The ability to work on a number of research topics concurrently
  • The ideal candidate has an interest in emerging topics such as Environmental, Social, and Governance, and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Preferred:

Strong skills and experience are preferred in the following areas:

  • Ability to read complex documents, synthesize and summarize important facts
  • Excellent written and presentation skills and an ability to explain complex issues clearly and precisely
  • Project management skills
  • Financial & Data Analysis
  • Technical acumen of GAAP, and Audit & Assurance methodology and services
  • Ability to think creatively, problem solve and work independently on multiple projects
  • CPA
  • Strong on the job training skills and a desire to teach
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York City, Jersey City, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to New York City, Jersey City and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55,770 to $121,215
